Abstract: This study is the first approach to study interspecific as well as intraspecific variability in Plagiochila from Portugal and Madeira using isoenzyme analysis. Twenty populations of Plagiochila from several sites in Portugal and Madeira Laurissilva forest were investigated. The results were obtained by poliacrilamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE).
