Resumo: The goal of the present study was to evaluate the effects of supplementing xylanase and glucanase in maize-wheat-barley-based diets on the performance of broiler chickens. Six hundred and forty eight 1-day-old ROSS 308 male broiler chicks were used and divided into 4 treatments, each with 6 replicate pens. The treatments consisted of a high energy positive control (CP), a low energy negative control (CN), a negative control supplemented with commercial enzyme A (CN+A) and a negative control supplemented with commercial enzyme R (CN+R). Both commercial enzymes were a mixture of xylanase and glucanase. This trial lasted 35 days during which body weight and feed intake were measured on a weekly basis. At 21 and 35 days of age, 2 broilers per pen per day were slaughtered to determine intestinal viscosity. At day 35 the size of the digestive organs was measured. Intestinal viscosity was reduced by the use of the commercial enzymes mixtures, but was not sufficient to alter the size of various digestive organs and to obtain clear improvements in the performance of broilers
